INDIANA- The Indiana Bureau of Roads and Ways announced today that pilot tests of a new phone application that allows affluent users to request snowplow-service on demand had been completed in several of the state’s nicer communities.
Speaking from home by teleconference due to being snowed in himself, IBRW Communications Director Scott Gredbest addressed members of the news media from across the state.
“This week’s inclement winter weather was the perfect proof-of-concept demonstration to put aside any doubts that our representatives in Indianapolis might have about the IBRW’s new proposed service model. In communities where we allowed the application to be employed on a non-placebo basis, streets remained immaculately clear and complaints to the Bureau, police, and local representatives were virtually non-existent.”
Gredbest informed members of the press that the app allows users with a premium membership to summon a municipal snowplow to their neighborhood in less than 20 minutes and as often as every 10 minutes. The application, known as i-Slog, encourages users to leave a gratuity at checkout.
Local Beverly Shores resident Monica Sitgut was enthusiastic about the application in her posts to the community’s private Facebook group. “It’s about time the state did something for Hoosiers that need assistance. Last year we didn’t have much snow, but we were ordering from delivery services so much because so many businesses couldn’t serve people dine-in. We don’t allow street signs in most of our neighborhood because the majority of our residents think they’re an eyesore, so you can imagine how difficult it is for Doordash to find a residence within an acceptable amount of time!”

Asked how the new i-Slog application would impact deliveries to her residence, Sitgut said that she assumed “it would make things easier so long as her neighbor calls the plows often enough.”
The i-Slog application is only currently available in the communities of Dunes Acres, Beverly Shores, and the Town of Pines. Pending state funding approval, it’s availability will be expanded to include McCordsville, Brownsburg, and Carmel with plans to offer it or a poorly veiled clone of it in other states thereafter. The Indiana snowplows on-demand phone application is available on the newest IOS operating system for iPhone. There are no plans to port it to other formats.
