INDIANA- Following her surrender to federal charges at a New Albany Federal Courthouse, editors from several Indiana media outlets struggled to assure accurate punctuation in news pieces about January 6th insurrectionist Nancy Barron of Patriot, Indiana.
Barron, 46, contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation the day after the Capitol Riot admitting to have been in attendance but contesting that she’d been pushed into the building, a claim the FBI informed the media that video and photographic evidence clearly contradicts.
“Charge!”
-Nancy Barron of Patriot, Indiana, in video she recorded of herself committing several felonies
Included in the video evidence cited by the Bureau is video Barron herself filmed, during which she is heard to shout “Where is (expletive) Pelosi?!” “(expetive) Nancy Pelosi and (expletive) Chuck Schumer!,” and simply “Charge!” as she and others surged into the U.S. Capitol Building during the 2021 Certification of the Election of President Joe Biden.
Unavailable for individual comment at the time of press, the Indiana Union of News and Internet Editors issued a short press release stressing the important of commas and capitalization in place names, as well as the importance of media and general literacy being taught in both public and private schools.
Readers expressed frustration and confusion as to the editorial tone of news coverage regarding the issue outside of Southeastern Indiana’s Switzerland County, where the existence of the town of Patriot is better known, if not well-known.
