I Returned to PDGA 2k21 After a Month Away From Video Games. It Was More Dramatic Than I’d Anticipated.

Playing PGA 202K and the internet connection gets dodgy. The load screen is just your character walking away from the hole, but since it won’t load the next hole I get to watch my character walk so far he probably passed the parking lot, the nearest town, the airport, and the last place anyone ever saw him in this life.“I was there. Shriner’s Open, 2021. Hole Sixteen. Joey Clubs, he hit a birdie. Brought his score to Two over, he was far out of the lead. But he made a pistol shape with his hand as it sank… blew on his index finger like it was a smoking gun. He walks through the crowd. Past the cameras. I see him walk past the club house, towards the horizon. Nobody saw old Joey Clubs again. Caused some confusion on hole Seventeen, but people got over it…”To add to the drama, at the end of the round I was informed that my character had a cliche “slobs vs. snobs” rivalry that I’d somehow missed up until this point.
